The Sweetest Place on Earth

It's a Friday night and we needed something to do: we went exploring.

Recently, our family has relocated to the Hershey, PA area which is the home of the Milton Hershey dream. I became a tour guide and led my parents around the charming town, full of history, teaching them of the Hershey legacy. Milton Hershey did more than create super yummy chocolate. He built a home for children. He built jobs for the poor. He built love for his employees. He built a successful empire.

Here I stand with my dad in the historic Hershey Hotel that was built in 1933. In the midst of the Great Depression, Milton provided jobs and opportunities to people and this hotel was built and completed in just one years time. The lobby is themed after Hershey Cuba, where Milton had a sugar cane plantation for the chocolate factory in the states. Before the political conflicts arose, Milton left Cuba and now we can look at this lobby to remember the valued history of its involvement to the chocolates history.

The sweetest place on Earth: Hershey, PA.

This sounds like a marketing scheme but everyone should visit at least once to see the success that built out of holding legacy and value at the top of importance for the business. All of the Hershey profits are made and collected in honor of the Milton Hershey School that offers a boarding school full of grand opportunities for underprivileged and orphaned children. Many details about the school and the legacy of his practices can be found with a quick Google search or a visit to the any of the Hershey attractions. Our biggest competitor in the Hospitality market is Disney, one visit will show you why. I am proud to say that I have become a part of this living legacy in my time of living here and working for Hershey Entertainment and Resorts.
