After 20 years of living in England, Bill Bryson, author of this book decided that he wanted to rediscover the beauty of America by hiking the Appalachian Trail. He writes about the story of his journey on the 2,100 mile trail and all the laughs, tears and memories that went along the way. He walked with a buddy, Katz who helps provide a comic relief to a real life challenge. This book was so inspiring and fascinating with every page. The author tells of history and mystery that lies in the wilderness along the trail. I highly recommend my adventurers out there to read this novel. Only 21 chapters long but full of good laughs and insights about what hiking the trail is like, in real person. The author is no "mountain man" or "professional in the field". He a regular dude that wanted to hike, and so he did. Enjoy.
