Easy Roads. Lots to see.

Greeting my friends!

I apologize for my lack of entries recently. I have been in the process of college finals, club programs, Project K research and of course road tripping!

I made it safe and sound back from SD to home here in PA. This is a journey I take twice a year now to commute back from school in the Black Hills to home. I love this drive across the midwest for two reasons: 1. its a great character builder 2. its mindless.

1. Because this trip is not the most "scenic" it teaches you to see the beauty in things you often don't recognize when you are on the road. I stopped along the way soaking in the midwest rural cultures that I am alien to. It was so neat to stand beneath a wind turbine. Its in those types of moments when you see the massive impact of small humans. The joke in our house is that we "count the white lines going past" on this drive because its not as "adventurous" as other regions but there is still so much to be offered to us. I was able to visit a few lakes in Minnesota and a state park in Wisconsin. It was simple but great. After doing endless hours of studying, this solo trip home was the detox I needed. There is something about being on the road for three days that changes a persons soul. It changes you from the inside out. I can't explain the feeling of freedom that being alone on the road brings. When GPS fails and you are left to trust your instincts, magic happens. You find a change to who you are and the confidence overflows within your heart.

2. Its mindless; This trip is super easy for beginning travelers. The interstate system was designed to connect the United States and if you use them properly, they can take you anywhere. The journey from Pittsburgh to Spearfish SD, is all interstates. You can take the road less traveled and explore (Only when I have time do I take these trails), but interstates make it nice and simple for the solo traveler.

Do some homework on the connections of interstates, ask if you have questions. Summer is here so I am going to be more open to blogging time and responding to answering you!

Have a blessed Sunday my fellow wanders.

Kate
