Weekend Warrior.

Friday afternoon, we decided to meet up and go camping. We didn't set a plan except that he was to bring the tent and I brought the blankets. We spent the afternoon driving around the southern portion of the Black Hills and eventually ended up in Hot Springs, SD. As dusk approached, we decided to set camp at Elk Mountain campground in Custer State Park.

It was a simple evening. A perfect remedy for two young individuals trying to balance the stress of academics and reopen themselves to new opportunity. We had a roaring fire that warmed our weary souls and brought sparkle to the companionship.

We didn't plan anything. We hardly packed any gear. We ate wienies and drank cold beers all night along next to that fire. Talking about adventures, fears, memories, pain, the future, our goals. We began to unfold the layers of calloused feelings that humans often try to hide away from one another. I am free spirit, very independent. I love this personality trait. Finding a wandering soul so similar to my own is more refreshing than a crisp brook flowing in desert.

We slept in the tent that night, cuddled for warmth and fell asleep staring at the galaxy of stars above us. The clarity of the night sky brought me to silence. I felt how small I was in our universe.

The morning we woke up, we packed quickly and wanted to get home after a chilly night under those magical stars. We pulled out of the campsite and Mr.Buffalo featured in this picture posed next to the sign as if he was wishing us safe travels home.

The moral of this story is to let life lead you. Don't plan everything. Let things fall into place. Its a moment that will change you. Its overwhelming to believe that you don't need to map out every moment of your life. Let life map you. Its a lot better at making decisions than us sometimes. Peace be with you. Go find some galaxies.
